Our Unique Story: From Sauna Stove to Dream Spaces

It all began with a discarded, rusted-out sauna stove.

​

During a multi-million dollar commercial renovation, our project manager, Alan, discovered an old cedar sauna in the basement of the building. The once-proud sauna was now used for storage, with a rusted sauna stove laying among the clutter. The directive was to clear the space, meaning the sauna was to be demolished.

​

However, Alan couldn't bring himself to discard the sturdy stove, knowing how special saunas can be. He saved the stove, thinking it might find a new purpose one day.

The Stove That Inspired Our Dream

 

Alan showed the stove to Josh, our head electrician, who confirmed that this old piece of machinery still had life left in it. Although we had various ongoing projects, the stove sat in storage, patiently waiting for its second chance.

​

As a team, we cherished saunas from our youth, both for individual meditation and for communal bonding. The healing effects and personal memories tied to saunas motivated Alan to save that stove.

Pandemic Inspiration: Building the Dream Sauna

​

When the pandemic hit, we decided to create something unique. We carefully restored the stove, sanding it down and applying several coats of heat-resistant paint. The stove, revived and renewed, became the centerpiece of our dream sauna.

 

Soon after completing it, a close friend and the first person to view the finished product said, “I want one!” This marked the beginning of a new journey for us.

Our First Custom Sauna & Legal Suite Project

 

Along with building a custom sauna for our first client, we also completed a full legal suite renovation of his lower level. The space included a custom-made sauna, allowing the homeowner to move his mother into the enhanced living area where she could assist with childcare while maintaining her privacy.

​

Inspired by the success of this project, Alan moved his own family into a new home, where we developed a modern lower-level legal suite with a custom sauna.
